What will happen during my sessions?

Initial assessment - this will be a space for me to get to know you and to get an understanding of your needs and goals. We will think about your medical history, dietary intake and eating behaviours. At the end of your assessment you will be provided with a recommended treatment plan and intentions to think about ahead of your follow up.

Follow up sessions - used to review and monitor progress, reflect on food & thought diaries and build coping strategies and develop intentions to target behaviour change. We will also reflect on where challenges may have arisen between sessions.

Where do sessions take place?

I offer sessions online, via zoom and would encourage clients to be in a calm and confidential space during sessions. I am also able to provide a limited number of in-person sessions per week which take place in a therapy room in central London.

How many sessions will I need?

Eating disorder recovery is a process and takes significant time. The number of sessions needed will vary from individual to individual. Weekly sessions may be recommended initially depending on need or a less intensive approach with sessions every 2-4 weeks. It is likely that you will need a minimum of 8 sessions to create long-lasting change.

How much do sessions cost?

Online fees are: 75min initial assessment £150, 50min follow up £120 and 30min follow up £90.

In-person fees are: 75min initial assessment £160, 50min follow up £130

What does this cost cover?

This cost covers the session itself, pre-session planning and post-session tasks (note documentation, sending supportive material, updating of meal plans, communicating with other health professionals e.g. GP, therapist) and emails in between sessions.

Are you covered by health insurance?

Apologies, I am not currently covered by any healthcare insurance provider.

Can I cancel once I have booked?

Yes. If you cancel with more than 48hrs before the session you will not be charged. You will be charged 50% of the session cost if you cancel with less than 48hrs notice and the full cost of the session with less than 24hrs notice.

Do you offer discovery calls?

Yes. Depending on the information received via your enquiry and your medical history, I may suggest that a free 10min discovery call may be helpful to discuss any concerns or questions before booking an initial consultation.

I don't live in the UK - are you still able to see me?

Yes! As all sessions take place online I am able to you if you are not based in the UK. Unfortunately due to insurance reasons I am not able to work with clients based in the USA or Canada.

Will you provide me with a meal plan?

I will usually provide some sort of meal plan as a basis to work from. The nature of this will change depending on your dietetic needs. For example, if weight recovery is a goal the meal plan will likely be more structured and specific in terms of the amount and types of food needed - however, I do not work with calories or specific weights or measurements and won't outline exactly what you need to eat at every meal and snack as the overall goal is to move away from rigidity and towards flexibility and freedom.

I want to lose weight - can you help?

I work with a HAES (health at every size) framework and try to support clients to move away from weight loss as a primary goal in treatment, as this is likely to be fuelling disordered eating behaviours. First and foremost the focus is on normalising eating - changes in weight and weight loss may be a secondary to this but the primary focus is on positive behaviour change.

Will I need to have any tests done prior to my assessment?

You may be asked to have physical health monitoring e.g. blood tests ahead of your initial assessment or afterwards prior to your follow up.
